Station building – latest 30 July

The Station Building, Mytholmroyd

Well, we have only been waiting and hoping for seven years or more!.

We have got used to one step forward and two backwards – that is to be expected with such a large project we have undertaken – to convert the disused station building into a Community Hub.

Run by the community – for the community.

So far, ten volunteers have agreed to be Trustees of the charity which will be responsible for the project – our application is with the Charity Commissioner with the prime Objective being the renovation and preservation of the Station Building.

The Trustees-in-waiting have  appointed consultants  Rose Regeneration to undertake a Feasibility on the building project – www.roseregeneration.co.uk

We shall be trying to include a meaningful community consultation – which we hope will involve YOU which could be by email, postal or personal meetings.

Our aims/visions is  for the provision of a COMMUNITY HUB for MYTHOLMROYD; its sustainability and usage for the future generations.

Our original vision was   facilities for start-up units for small business, artists’ studio space, hot-desk facilities as well as ground-floor community room.

Northern Rail may wish to use the second floor for staff accommodation.

We are awaiting Network Rail to sign their Order for Stage 1 to start this October

The building charity will be taking the premises on a full repair and insurance lease – so it will have to be viable without being dependent on annual Grants and Subsidies.

Facilities for suitable trading units that do not conflict with any existing business in the vicinity are possible.

Public consultation meetings are planned– where viable proposals will be outlined for local community to consider their participation.

Mytholmroyd station project has received considerable assistance from Network and Northern Rail management  together with Hebden Royd Town and Calderdale Councils  and the Architectural Heritage Fund.
