Trip out – 2014

After all the hard work associated with that Cycling event – not to mention preparing for the Yorkshire in Bloom judging – we decided to have a trip on the train.

With thanks to Pete Myers and all at Northern Rail – we had a great day at York and the Rail Museum.

Here we are being lectured by Cap-on-Head, Tongue-in-Cheek Chairman Geoff  – of not pulling the wrong chain in the  train toilets etc etc.

Followed by all the weary travellers return in the evening – thanks Pete.

Do not fret – Hector is alright!

Amazing while he was being gently removed from his perch on the station banking – and since it was feared the worst had happened to him – folk have been querying his whereabouts.

The artist creator of Hector Sue decided he had had a week facing the Pennine elements and it was time to be retired before anything else happened.

Hector has now retired back home – and thanks all those who have admired his proud Yorkshire greetings to all our visitors.

What a fantastic event !!

Even this grumpy editor has to admit that the Tour de France event was a resounding success.

Here at the Royd visitors were welcomed by Northern Rail staff – followed by a carnival atmosphere in the village.

Great time – well done and thank you everyone.

Not least the station volunteers who have made the village railway station such an attractive feature..
