Thanks for the information guys – glad you managed to get hold of this because Northern have refused to say which services specifically they were putting extra carriages on. This morning I caught the 6.49am train from Mytholmroyd to Manchester Victoria (I get the same train every day) and they had taken the 2 carriage 158 train and swapped it for a 2 carriage 144 Pacer train, resulting in approximately 100 less seats on this busy commuter service. Would you believe it! Needless to say I have emailed Northern to ask them if they were having a joke at our expense.
We are getting mixed feedback obout the ‘strengthening’ of the trains.
Suggest keep a record over a few weeks and if necessary report your views to Northern rail Customer Servives.
