Yorkshire in Bloom 2011 comments

We have just come the end of a hectic three weeks – preparing for the judging of the 2011 Neighbourhood Award.

We not only include the village railway station, but the local churches, inn, village green and residents.

Jim Jarratt & Paul Trafford working on the village green

We had two teams of volunteers from the Royal Sun Alliance office this year

.

They were younger and fitter than us - and could get at places we could not reach......

The volunteers did a superb job - thank you.

Thanks to Nigel Oliver (Green Business Network 3rd from l) for organising the RSA volunteers.

Christine Breare, the 2011 judge with Barry Geldard from the Church of the Good Shepherd gardeners

Brenda shows how they have transformed under the arches at Streamside Fold.

Hon. Secretary Sue explains the stone sculpture on the village green

and finally, we all admired the house and garden of John Truscott at the old Mytholmroyd Farm (16th century - house, not John).
